In July 2022, Lambeth Council commissioned an independent review into the delivery of affordable housing and in particular the delivery of homes at social rent which are genuinely affordable for local families on the housing waiting list.

One of the recommendations was that Homes for Lambeth, the council’s wholly-owned housing company, be consolidated within the council. This process has now begun.

The review led by the independent Peer Lord Kerslake also acknowledged the significant challenges that local authorities, housing associations and private sector housebuilders have faced and are continuing to face due to Covid-19, construction inflation and the wider economic downturn.

Any plans affecting the transfer of HFL Homes to Lambeth Council will first be subject to a consultation with HFL Homes. There will be no changes to the rights, rents and responsibilities of HFL Homes residents.
